"R is for Rice" is a vibrant children's book celebrating the diversity of Asian-American cuisine through playful illustrations, rhythms, and rhymes.
Collaborating with JKL Teahouse, which began its publishing journey in 2020, I developed the visual identity for the book, along with marketing and packaging materials. I chose a bold and colorful illustration style to highlight the deliciousness and enjoyment of Asian-American cuisine, creating over 36 unique illustrations to bring the concept to life.
Launched in May 2021 during AAPI month, the book was a resounding success. The positive public feedback on the vibrant colors and illustrations affirmed the project's impact in broadening the narrative of what it means to be "American." I take pride in contributing to a project that inspires appreciation for Asian-American culture.
